Welcome, Father Tim!

Very Reverend Timothy P. LaBo, PhD

Fr. Tim was born in 1958 in a small town of Ohio.  This was his home for the first 18 years of his life.  In 1977, he came to Florida to study Marine Biology at Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne.  While in college, Fr. Tim became involved with Campus Ministry under the guidance of Fr. George Moreau.  By the middle of his senior year, Fr. LaBo had made the decision to enter the Seminary and study for the Diocese of Orlando.  He finished his undergraduate degree in June of 1981.  That Fall, he began his seminary formation at St. Meinrad College and completed Philosophy and Religious Studies requirements.  In the Fall of 1982, he entered the major Seminary of St. Mary’s in Baltimore, Maryland.  During his five years there, he earned a Bachelor’s, Master’s and Licenciate degree in Moral Theology.  On May 31, 1986, Fr. Tim was ordained a priest by the late Bishop Thomas J. Grady.

Fr. LaBo has been a Catholic priest for 33 years and has served in the following parishes: St. Mary Magdalen (Maitland), St. Margaret Mary (Winter Park), St. Peter’s (Deland), Our Lady of Lourdes (Melbourne), St. Charles (Orlando), St. Francis of Assisi (Apopka), Holy Redeemer (Kissimmee), and St. Rose of Lima (Poinciana).  Fr. Tim went back to school in 1998 at Barry University and completed his Doctor of Philosophy degree in Educational Leadership in December of 2005.  His dissertation explored the relationship between Leader-Member Exchange and Emotional Intelligence in Public School Leadership.  He has served as a member of numerous committees including the Diocesan Finance Committee, Diocesan School Board, Diocesan Insurance Committee, and as the Dean of the Central South Deanery from 2014 to 2018.  He was Pastor of Holy Redeemer and St. Rose of Lima concurrently.  On June 1, 2018, Fr. Tim was appointed pastor of St. Joseph and on August 1, 2019 he was appointed Dean/Vicar Forane of the Western Deanery. Effective July 15; Fr. Tim has been appointed by Bishop Noonan as the Canonical Administrator of Resurrection Catholic Church in Lakeland, while continuing to serve as Pastor of St. Joseph.

Our Church is open for Mass and Private Prayer!

With joy and optimism, we are able to welcome you into the church for Mass and private prayer!  Daily Mass is at 9 am Monday - Saturday, and 6 pm Wednesday (Spanish).  Weekend Masses are Saturday at 4 pm and Sunday at 8 am, 10:30 am, 1 pm (Spanish) and 5 pm.  The church will be open for private prayer Monday - Friday from noon-2 pm. Please observe social distancing and remain in the designated area in the right side of the Nave. The Chapel will remain closed until further notice.

Whether or not to physically attend Mass is a choice that each of you will have to make for yourselves and your families.  The obligation to attend Mass will remain lifted until further notice, and all Masses will be available on our YouTube channel.  Please, if you are ill or compromised in any way, pray with us from the safety of your home.  We know that you will be with us in spirit – as we will be with you!  If you do choose to join us in person for Mass, please know that only the main front doors will be unlocked, and the Holy Water Stoup will remain empty.  We ask that you simply make the sign of the cross upon entering the church.

Homilies may be shortened during this transitional period to allow adequate time for people to exit safely while distancing after Mass and to allow time to clean and prepare for the next Mass.  Offertory baskets will not be passed.  Instead, there will be basket for you to drop your offertory gifts upon entering the church.  Online giving remains another excellent option.  During the Sign of Peace, please offer a reverent bow or a verbal “Peace be with you,” but refrain from physical contact.

Holy Communion will only be distributed in the form of the Sacred Host.  Remember that the Roman Missal is clear in stating that “Christ, whole and entire, and the true Sacrament, is received even under only one species.”  The Sacred Host will only be distributed to the hands of the communicant, not the tongue.

Hymnals and missalettes have been removed from church.  During Mass, we will be using the screens in church, and we invite you to access the readings on your phone using our Parish App.  Links to download the Parish App can be found below.  Cantors and musicians will lead you in song, but we will not be able to have our full Choir return until further notice.  So please, when you attend Mass, lift your voices in song for the glory of God!

We will continue to create a Bulletin for you each week, but it will not be available in printed form.  Our Bulletins are always available on our website and our Parish App.  Each week, the bulletin has content such as Gospel Meditations, coloring pages and other activities for the kids, discussion questions about Sunday’s readings, school updates, and more.

Below are links to our YouTube channel, Facebook page and more.  Please keep “meeting” us in these spaces to do as Pope Francis invited – finding new forms of hospitality, fraternity and solidarity!

An Act of Spiritual Communion

My Jesus,
I believe that You
are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love You above all things,
and I desire to receive You into my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment
receive You sacramentally,
come at least spiritually into my heart.
I embrace You as if You were already there
and unite myself wholly to You.
Never permit me to be separated from You.
Amen.

Prayer to Saint Michael the Archangel

St. Michael the Archangel,
defend us in Battle;
Be our safeguard against the wickedness and snares of the Devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray,
and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host,
by the power of God, cast into Hell,
Satan and all the other evil spirits,
who prowl through the world,
seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.

ORACIÓN A SAN MIGUEL ARCÁNGEL
