Schola Cantorum

The Resurrection Schola Cantorum, celebrating its 12th year of formation, continues to be dedicated to excellence in prayer through music. The term Schola Cantorum comes from derivations meaning School of Cantors, usually denoting choristers who are interested in a higher level of music, challenge, and effort. The Schola accepts new members based upon a successful audition. Accepted Schola members will be committed and dedicated to practice, punctuality, and prayerful perseverance in all levels of choral performance. A wide and varied repertoire allows the Schola member to achieve higher levels of musical excellence. As such, the prayer and music for all of our parishioners are enhanced. Commitment to rehearsal is absolute and required to achieve the level of music presented. For more information, please contact Don & Carol Beyer, Directors, at carolndon5by@gmail.com

Rehearsals are Thursdays from 7:15-9:15pm in the church.

Cantor Program

In Catholic worship, the Cantor is the primary leader of congregational singing. He or she plays a deeply important role in the liturgy as both the proclaimer of the Psalm and leader of the Hymns and Acclamations. As such, a high caliber of musicianship is required. Admission to the cantor program is by audition with the Director of Music. Previous singing experience as well as an ability to read music and match pitch is required. Membership in an existing choir is recommended, but not required. For more information, please contact Jonathan Branton, Director of Music, at  jbranton@rcclakeland.org
